There’s always that book that you just love. Could read over and over and over. Well what if it was a trilogy? And after devouring book two, you find out that book three comes out a year later??? Well that has happened to me, twice! lol ;) Its one thing to wait for a book for a bit. One of the books below was projected to be out in August [now, I have no idea when], but that was only like two months after I finished book two. But a year or more?? Such torture! :) If you missed the previous posts in this series, you can read part one, two, and three. :)
Tris is a Abnegation. This is her faction. A lifestyle that values selflessness and service. In Tris’ world, there are five separate factions that society is divided into. Your job and lifestyle are then determined by the faction you’re in: Abnegation (the selfless), Candor (the honest), Amity (the peaceful), Erudite (the intelligent), and Dauntless (the brave). It is believed that when society works together with these five valuable traits, we can all live in harmony. At the age of 16, each child goes through tests and simulations to determine what faction they will choose to join. Most stick with the faction they are born into, but some transfer. When Tris goes through her tests, there is a problem. She fits into three factions, which is unheard of, and also carries the dangerous label of Divergent. And when it comes time to choose what faction she will live in forever, she surprises her family, friends, and herself. She undergoes a tough and dangerous initiation only to discover friendship, romance, and just how tough she is. And when her Divergent status leads her to uncover some secrets about society, Tris is not so sure about anything anymore.
No spoilers!! But let me tell you, I FLEW through this book! And LOVE it! :) I have read both of these more than once and love them each time.
Allegiant does not release until October 22, 2013 however, you can pre-order it with the link. When I finished Insurgent, it was October of last year!! I was sooooo dissapointed. While I know that book writing takes time, I’d like to think that if I ever wrote a trilogy, I would have all three books written at once and then release them over a year. But what do I know…I’ve never written a book! Anyway, to tide you over for the next month before it’s release, you can pick up Roth’s short stories about the life of Four in Free Four, and The Transfer. The rest of Four’s stories The Initiate, The Son, and The Traitor are also set to be released every 6 weeks or so until mid-February next year. There is also a Divergent movie set to release March 20, 2014. :)
19. The One by Kiera Cass
Again, no spoilers! And that cover is not the official cover. Here is the original source for the cover. The One is not set to release until May 6, 2014. Seriously?? Yes. And when I read book two back in April, I was soooo angry when I found out book three wasn’t going to be for another 13 months! Grrrr….there isn’t even a pre-order for it because it is so far away. Wahhhh. I loved this series as well, and can’t wait for book three!
20. Ordinary by Jess Petosa
And my last no spoilers book…Ordinary. This series was very good and is written by a self-published author, Jess Petosa. Petosa stated on her blog that she wanted to have an August release date for the third book in this exciting trilogy, but wrote on Facebook sometime in August that she isn’t close to being done. Which bums me out. I mean, set a release date so we have something to look forward to! With an, “I don’t know when I’ll be done,” kind of approach, its leaving us readers on a never-ending cliffhanger. So, Jess, if by any weird chance you read this…PLEASE HURRY! ;)
Books I Want to Read
– The Legend trilogy by Maria Lu
– All books by Sarah Dessen
I can’t really write a synopsis of these stories because I haven’t read them, but I did read What Happened to Goodbye and LOVED it. I actually started The Truth About Forever last night, and I have heard such great things about all her books, so I am pretty excited! :)
So there you have it! Twenty of my favorite dystopian fiction novels and a couple extra that I want to read. I hope you liked this series!! Did you read something you loved that weren’t in this series?? Please share in the comments below! I’d love more books to add to my “Want to Read” list! This post contains my affiliate links, but I wouldn’t be sharing these books if I didn’t LOVE them. The synopses are also written by me.
