I’m sure by now you’ve seen all over how people are obsessed with essential oils. I’m one of the oil obsessed, and I want to show you how these essential oils can be for everyone! I use Young Living oils and when I first got into the oils, I started with the Everyday Oils because it was the easiest and most cost effective way to get my oil stash started.
Here are the oils that you would get in your Premium Starter Kit with Young Living: Frankincense, Lavender, Lemon, Joy, PanAway, Peace & Calming, Peppermint, Purification, Thieves, Valor, and Stress Away. Plus, you also get a diffuser to get these lovely oils into the air!
But if you’re like me before I got into the oils, when you see someone post about them, you may roll your eyes, think that they aren’t for you, that you don’t suffer from the ailment that the person is saying the oil helped with, etc. You may be skeptical. I was too. I thought that my oil loving friends were nuts. I just never voiced it aloud!
But because I value a healthy and natural (as organic as financially possible) lifestyle, I was curious. After a while, I started reading about it, talking to my husband, and getting more interested in them. I’ll be honest, I didn’t have an ailment I was wanting to remedy, but I did want to have more natural options when my family got sick. I also saw people making lotions, cleaning products, and beauty products with these oils and that peaked my interest. I finally took the plunge and bought a kit.
Within the first week, I was hooked. And in the months since, I am more and more convinced that these oils are a part of God’s creation and gift to us in healing our bodies. I really believe that God gave us so much in our earth and gave us all we need to healthily live in it. :) So you may be wondering, “What comes in the Everyday Oils? And really, Erin, how could I use them?”
Well I’ll tell you! :)
How the oils in the Premium Starter Kit can work for you
I am going to list each oil and tell you how they can be used and what for. I wish that everyone took the time to really read how these oils can work for them; there are literally hundreds of uses for these oils. I’m convinced everyone would benefit from them!
This oil is BOMB. Okay, I’ll probably say that about each oil, so I’ll tell you what you really want to know. :)
Frankincense is an oil that is good for depression, respiratory infections, inflammation, and your immune system. If you’re suffering from a respiratory infection, apply to your neck to help ease coughing. You can put a drop on your thumb and swipe on the roof of your mouth to ease migraines. It is useful for aging of skin and dry skin as well! Apply to those wrinkles! haha, or apply topically to prevent them! Its also useful to reduce scarring! Rub it into an achy body to ease the pain as well.
Oh Lavender. This is seriously the “good for everything” oil. Almost every single time I look up an ailment in my reference book, Lavender is listed as one to use. Seriously!
Lavender is an antiseptic, antifungal oil! We used it on my husband’s eczema and on bug bites. You can use it for skin care, burns, eczema, cold sores, scarring, stretch marks [and perennial repair :( ] and rashes.
You can also put a few drops in your kiddos bath [or even rub it on yours and their feet] to promote relaxing sleep. You can also put it on sore muscles to ease pain. If you suffer from insomnia, you can also inhale it or apply to bottoms of your feet to help you drift off to sleep.
Silly side fact: my sister squeezes an entire lemon in her water because she loves the flavor so much! Just yesterday, I gave her a bottle of Lemon to try in her water and she’s already thanked me twice! ;)
Lemon is amazing to simply consume, but did you know that if you put it in your water at a restaurant or somewhere where you can’t see where the water is coming from, it can help purify your water from germs? It can calm anxiety, reduce heartburn, and stop a runny nose!
It also smells so good, so its good to clean with, put in your dishwasher, rub stains off walls, and remove sticky stuff like gum from hair. [I hope I don’t have to deal with this, but I have a girl, so most likely, yes.]
The name of this oil can really speak for itself! Right now, I put Joy on my chest to help lift my mood because the kids are driving me cray cray.
This is a blend that has ten amazing oils in it to help promote joy and combat sadness. You can put a few drops of this on your wrists as perfume, dropped on a washcloth in the dryer to make your clothing smell good, diffuse it in your home after school to help everyone return to a happy mood, and overall mood enhancing!
I shared on Instagram how my daughter, after breaking her collarbone, fell backwards out of a chair and was in a lot of pain. Because I had already given her meds from the doctor, we were sort of stuck. I ran to the kitchen, grabbed my PanAway, and put some on her shoulder and collarbone. Within minutes, she was smiling again, saying the pain was going away! It was an emotional moment for me because I was so grateful for my oils at that moment. I don’t know what else I would have done.
This oil is great for easing pain and migraines. It can be applied to the temples, back of neck, or forehead for relief. I have a friend whose husband has migraines and this works wonders for him! You can also use this oil immediately after an injury to reduce pain and swelling. It can help with arthritis, sciatic pain, and growing pains in children. It smells good too!
Peace & Calming
This oil is a life saver. I struggle with anxiety and worry. This oil, when diffused or applied topically, helps to promote…well, peace and calming! It helps to reduce tension as well as depression, anxiety, stress, and insomnia.
You can rub this oil on the bottoms of your feet before you go to bed to get a good night rest. I have several friends who diffuse this during nap time and have great success in getting their kids to sleep longer. ;)
This oil is an oil I diffuse a lot to help when we’ve all got bad attitudes.
Have you ever wished you didn’t have to pop a Tylenol or Advil to get rid of your headache? Personally, I would just bear the headache because I didn’t get relief with Tylenol, and I hate taking OTC meds. You can rub peppermint on your temples [and I also rub it across my hairline] to get relief from headaches.
I shared once that I was struggling with some severe stomach pain that had me doubled over. I didn’t know what to do. For several days, I suffered. Finally, I remembered reading that I could apply peppermint to my stomach for digestive relief. So I rubbed two drops into my skin above my bellybutton. The pain and pressure dissolved and it left me in shock.
This oil can also be consumed in hot tea for relief from heartburn. Rub the oil on the palms, feet, armpits, and crown to reduce fever.
One of the things that initially got me interested in the oils was seeing a graphic about oils and eczema. We used Lavender on my husband’s eczema at first, but after reading that Purification has skin regenerative properties, we started using it. It was amazing after applying nightly, my husband’s eczema began to heal! You can use it on cuts, scrapes, and bug bites [you can even put it into a spray bottle with water to spray the air and repel insects!]. It is also great for clearing the skin from acne and blemishes.
Purification can be added to a load of wash to get rid of the mildew smell that washers sometimes get. I diffuse Purification when my house smells from burnt dinner, a really poopy diaper, or other gross smells. I even heard of someone putting a few drops on a cotton ball and shoving the cotton ball into the car A/C vent to help dispel car odors! Or shove that cotton ball into the toes of stinky gym shoes to get rid of odors there.
Thieves oil is THE oil you want to keep germs away. This oil is nothing short of a miracle worker. There was a nasty tummy bug at the beginning of 2014 that I was terrified for our family to get. I have a barf phobia. I put Thieves oil on the kids’ feet every single night as well as my husband’s and mine. We did not get that bug. I was amazed. There have been other moments where I diffuse Theives oil or apply it to my feet when I feel that itchy throat coming on. And, thank you Jesus, we have been able to keep from being sick!
Another time, Jael’s ear piercings got infected. I wanted to avoid the doctor, so I started applying Thieves nightly. Within one day there was no sign of infection whatsoever!!
Thieves oil is antiseptic, antibacterial, and anti-infectious. Young Living makes Thieves oil cleaning products, toothpaste, mouthwash, and more! You can add Thieves to your mop water and a spray bottle for cleaning. When applied to the roof of your mouth, it can rid you of a headache in seconds!
This oil is often referred to as a “chiropractor in a bottle” as it helps the body to self-correct balance and align. It helps with TMJ when applied to the jaw, relieves stress and anxiety when applied to the chest, and when diffused can help with attention problems. This oil promotes emotional balance and reduces anxious feelings. Like the name, it helps to promote confidence and self-esteem.
You can even apply it to the bottom of the big toe to relieve snoring and promote healthy sleep!!
This is an oil I carry in my purse. With the Premium Starter Kit, you get this oil and a roller ball to attach to the top for quick application.
I love the smell of this oil and my kids ask for it constantly. It reduces anxiety and depression and promotes peace and minimizes stress. It can be diffused with Peppermint for a bright and uplifting scent.
I used this oil before [and during] class a lot to reduce my own tension and help me to get over worried feelings. This is probably my favorite oil!
I learned lot of information in this post from my Essential Oils Pocket Reference, which is an AMAZING book to have because you can look up oils, oil blends, and even specific ailments and what oils are recommended. Amazing.
